How we keep our community helpful, respectful, and worth showing up for
Our private community on GitHub Discussions is a place to share skills and help each other ship better software. These guidelines keep it that way. They aren't a list of technicalities. We use our judgment, and we ask you to use yours.
Before you post, search to see if someone has already asked. Add to an existing thread when it fits, and start a new one when it doesn't.
When you ask for help, share what you tried, what you expected, and what happened. Our guide on how to ask for help shows how to write a question that gets answered quickly.
When you answer, explain why, not just what. Mark the answer that solved your problem so the next person can find it.
Disagreement is fine and often useful. Criticize ideas, never the person. Skip the name-calling, the personal attacks, and the knee-jerk contradiction. Give reasons instead.
AI tools can be helpful, but say so when an answer was written by AI. Don't present AI output as your own expertise, and check it for accuracy before you post, because you're responsible for what you share.
Only post things you have the right to share. Don't share our paid products with people outside the community, and don't post pirated content, malware, or ways to break the law. Short code snippets for getting help are always fine.
Post in the right category, don't cross-post the same question, and use reactions instead of "+1" replies. If a thread drifts to a new topic, start a new discussion and link to it.
Don't reply to bad behavior, because that only feeds it. Use GitHub's "Report content" option or email [email protected], and we'll handle it.
We moderate the community and may remove any post or member. Moderation steps and appeals are described in our Digital Products terms.
Our Terms of Service cover your rights and ours, including how we handle content, privacy, and the law. By joining the community, you agree to follow them along with these guidelines.
